Sky is to issue a software update to resolve an issue that has led to a string of customer complaints from purchasers of its new Sky Glass integrated TV.
Launched last month amid much fanfare Sky Glass dispenses with the traditional dish in favour of an entirely IP device. It comes in a range of five colours (ocean blue, ceramic white, racing green, dusky pink, or anthracite black) in three display sizes, 43, 55 and 65 inches and is priced between £849 and £1,049 or available to lease at £13/17/21 per month.
However, early adopters have taken to social media and online forums to complain about a ‘distracting flicker’. Some customers have complained about the cloud recording feature while others have become frustrated at the need to sign in to apps from the BBC, ITV and Netflix, the latter ‘fault’ being a requirement of the broadcasters.
A Sky spokesperson told Broadband TV News: “We’ve seen huge demand for Sky Glass since it launched and we’ve had fantastic feedback from many customers. A very small number of customers have reported some flickering and we have a software update scheduled this week that will resolve this. We’ll be following up as always with regular releases to add features and fix any issues.”
Sky has a 31-day returns policy.
